Supporting Farmers by Proposed Ban on Lab-Meat

The Italian Government is supporting a bill that will ban lab-grown meats and other synthetic foods in support of farmers and the Italian food heritage. If the bill passes, anyone who violates it could face a fine up to 60,000 Euros. That’s an expensive sodium bomb.

The fact that Italy is taking this serious to protect the food industry and the health of its people is marvelous. I wish the US is watching and falls in line with protecting our own sacred farming system. There is a larger problem here in America with farming, our food sourcing and its ingredients. The European Union has strict guidelines on its food system, keeping the integrity and quality the highest it can and should be while ours here is much more lax. I wish the FDA followed suit and our government didn’t allow lobbying of large corporations to fund there sales agenda.

At Cafe Arnone and Sal’s Gelato we have been working with a local farmer for the last two years in growing a regenerative produce farm. Enriching the soil to organically grow produce with all the healthy nutrients while building biodiversity just like nature intended! Our goal is for next year be fully operational so all produce we buy is direct from this farm under 15 miles away.

We believe in the protecting the integrity of our food system and the quality products we serve to our customers. Just one small part of our plan to change the way the industry has done it for so many years. Sustainability through actions!
